INTERNSHIPS

Internships available on the West Coast of Mexico!

Join Casa Comunidad on the beautiful beaches of Punta Mita, Nayarit, for a personal and career enhancing experience working with local children and women as they strive to better their lives.

We currently have positions available for Interns in the following program areas:

Women’s Co-op: Craft cooperative and business training center.

Intern responsibilities may include facilitating weekly meetings with the co-op participants, creation of different product designs and projects, formation and implementation of a basic business skills class, establishment of quality control system, assist women in sales techniques, forum, and start up procedures.

Qualifications: Intern will need to be at a level of intermediate or above in conversational Spanish. Intern should be pursuing a related field of study such as Social Entrepreneurship, Community Development, Spanish, Education, etc.

After School Program: After school learning center focused on building a complete education.

Intern responsibilities may include organizing classroom experiences in: English lessons, environmental education, team and character building skills, art, and health. Homework help in a variety of subjects is also offered and part of responsibilities. Classes are held Monday thru Friday for 3 hours a day. Student teachers are welcome. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands on experience and work with a professional staff that can act as guides in lesson planning and activities, though interns are welcome and encouraged to pursue their own ideas.

Qualifications: This position does not require intern to be a Spanish speaker, though familiarity with the language is preferred. To work in this environment a candidate will need to be flexible, creative, and organized as well as have a stron interest in education.

Fundraising/Grant Writing: Casa Comunidad support team

Intern responsibilities may include grant search and writing, continuation or design small weekly fundraisers to be held by the participants of Casa Comunidad. Intern will also work on long term funding projects held on a monthly and yearly calendar.

Qualifications: Fundraising experience required. Candidate does not need to be bilingual.

All Interns: must be committed to service, flexible, cooperative, and most importantly have a good sense of humor and be ready to have some fun! Life in Mexico can be unexpected to say the least so please be prepared to adapt to the circumstances. Specific skills are needed depending upon the position – please check the current opportunities listed. Length of time commitment varies according to the position. Interns pay their own expenses, including transportation, room and board. If you are placed on a project, we'll provide you with background information about your position, as well as travel, housing, and contact information. Casa Comunidad does not provide travel or living expenses, health, life or liability insurance for volunteers. We ask all volunteers to sign a liability waiver.

VOLUNTEERING

There are unlimited ways that you can donate your time.

We need volunteers and teachers to work with the children and adults on a daily basis. You can do everything from story time, english class to adventure education or art. Do you need to be bilingual? NO! We will help acclimate you into a position you feel comfortable with.

We also need behind the scenes help! This includes things like office work, fundraising and grant writing.

Are you handy around the house? You can help with facility needs.

No amount of time is too small!
