Building Blocks for Life
Molly Fisher
Molly moved to Mexico to start a bookstore after doing graduate work at Indiana University and spending two years in Colorado teaching high school science. What began as an adventure and business opportunity quickly turned into community service work as that is where her heart truly leads her. In her years living in Mexico she has spent countless hours volunteering with the Mexican Red Cross, directing the weekly Kid's Club, giving free swimming lessons to local youth, and participating in community environmental awareness projects. Perhaps her largest undertaking was to organize a project to address the needs of the animal population in Mexico. In five short years, Molly has had a hand in well over 2000 free spay/neuters, countless dog and cat adoptions, and hundreds of reduced cost veterinary clinic visits for the families who need it the most. She also taught Science at the American School of Puerto Vallarta from 2002-2005 where she directed the student council with Kate Hollenbach.
Kate Hollenbach
Kate is a Hope College graduate and Colorado certified teacher who has been teaching overseas in Honduras and Mexico for 6 years. She and her husband Jeff were drawn to Honduras to teach in a community where students are given very little opportunities and resources are slim. After Honduras they ventured north to Mexico where Kate taught for 5 years at the American School of Puerto Vallarta. While working there she always found time for running the student council (which initiated many community service projects) and after-school dance classes. In her free time she devoted many hours to teaching English to local children as well as helping in the biannual spay/neuter clinics.
Patricia Devany
Patricia and her family currently live in Ipswitch, MA. She is a certified teacher who taught at the American school for three years in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Since moving back to the states she has remained involved both with Mexican families and Casa Comunidad. She and her husband Bill are to thank for setting up our non profit status in the U.S. This is not an easy job! We are grateful for their dedication to helping Casa Comunidad get on it's feet and become a success.
